Winery Description: Balletto Vineyards was founded in 2001 by John and Terri Balletto, who continue to own and operate the winery today. Located in Sonoma County's Russian River Valley, Balletto Vineyards is a family-owned estate winery specializing in cool-climate varietals, particularly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Ballettos began their agricultural journey in 1977, initially establishing a successful vegetable farming enterprise that became the largest in Northern California, cultivating over 70 different vegetables on more than 700 acres. In the mid-1990s, anticipating challenges in the vegetable market and recognizing the potential of wine grape cultivation, they transitioned their focus to viticulture. By 1999, they had converted all their farmland to estate vineyards, planting primarily Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Encouraged by the quality of wines produced from their grapes by other vintners, John and Terri decided to produce their own wine, leading to the inaugural vintage of Balletto Vineyards estate wines in 2001. Today, the winery is celebrated for its commitment to sustainable farming practices and producing high-quality, estate-grown wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Russian River Valley.
