This month we had 56 winery updates and 36 wineries releasing wine.

Hope your New Year is off to a great start.

Last month I visited my college buddy Randall in Pismo Beach, and he booked us a tasting at Laetitia Vineyards, which turned out to be a perfect coastal wine stop. We tasted through the 2023 Reserve Chardonnay and 2023 Reserve Pinot Noir before diving into the more structured Black Label 02 667 bottlings from both 2021 and 2022, which was great to taste side by side. With sweeping vineyard views, classic Central Coast sunshine, and ideal weather, the experience felt relaxed and effortlessly scenic — the kind of tasting where good wine, great views, and catching up with Randall made for a great time.

When my friend Angeline invited me to join their tasting at B. Wise Vineyards, it was an easy yes — I’d heard nothing but rave reviews about both their tasting room and their caves. Our December visit more than lived up to the reputation, beginning with a Brion Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs from France that set an elegant tone for the experience. From there, we tasted their 2022 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, a 2022 Russian River Valley Lucky Well Pinot Noir, and their 2023 Estate Cabernet and the 2021 Caldwell Vineyard red. Tasting underground in the cave added a sense of intimacy and focus, letting each wine unfold slowly and making the entire experience feel thoughtful, relaxed, and quietly memorable.
