I took some friends to visit Cellar 33, one of the dozen or so wineries that operate in San Francisco, and one of the nine in this facility. We had a great time while John Fones, part Owner/Winemaker, showed around his winery in the Dogpatch neighborhood in San Francisco. We barrel tasted some really nice wines, that will be bottled in the next 2 weeks to 6 months. Then, we headed into their conference room, where he opened a rose, chardonnay, a handful of pinot noirs, and a zinfandel. All of his grapes are sourced from around the California area (Sonoma, Lodi, Central Coast, etc), then crushed, barreled, and bottled in San Francisco. Katie, John�s wife, was walking in as we were heading out and we were able to say hello to her and their adorable 7.5 month old son. We followed that visit with a lunch of meat, meat and more meat at Smokestack (also, in Dogpatch), which was a great way to close out the afternoon. And now, onto the wines...
