WineRelease.com's May 15, 2013 Monthly Newsletter.

Greetings from WineRelease.com, now 1,941 winery listings strong.

We are back from three weeks in Italy. We spent a week in Rome then two weeks in Lucca, a walled city 45 minutes West of Florence. We had a great time as the weather was perfect, the food was great and the wine was amazing and inexpensive.

One of our first restaurants in Rome was Trattoria der Pallero (Largo del Pallaro, 15). We truly got a Roman home cooked meal here. The lady that cooks the meal will come out to greet you throughout the meal and make you feel like you are at her house. There is no menu and your wine choice is "rosso" or "bianco". We received what they are serving that night and it was excellent.

In Lucca, we had a delightful meal at Paris Boheme (Piazza Cittadella, 6). Eclectic dishes, a huge selection of teas and nice selection of Italian and French wines.

Our favorite restaurant in Lucca was Da Pasquale (Via Del Moro, 8), rated number three on TripAdvisor. The food was varied, delightful and unrushed. The owner, Pasquale, was a delight to meet. His recommendations for wine, olive oil and food were great. His wine list is extensive and his prices were incredible. He tasted us on four different olive oils and we ended up buying two bottles. Reserve in advance as the restaurant is small and has only one seating.

If you visit Lucca, don't miss the amazing wine shop Enoteca Vanni (Piazza S. Salvatore 7). The shop is tiny when you enter but there is a door at the back of the store that leads to an underground catacomb of old and new wines from around the world.

And now, onto the wines...
