WineRelease.com's August 15, 2011 Monthly Newsletter.

Greetings from WineRelease.com, now 1,776 winery listings strong.

Although I keep seeing back to school ads, it feels like summer is still in full force. Surprisingly, so far August has been fairly sunny here in San Francisco - which we dont usually expect until September and October. Consistent with many others living in the City, weve had a lot of weekend activities outside of San Francisco, so we could experience summer as the rest of the US does.

A few to highlight include the Indigo Girls concert at Mountain Winery in Saratoga - preceded by dinner with friends at a bistro in town. If youre located in Northern California or visit our area and have not yet been to one of the Mountain Winerys summer concerts, I would highly recommend it. The venue is amazing (not a bad seat in the house) and the view is extraordinary.

We also had the opportunity to attend one of the Mondavi Winerys summer concerts. KD Lang sang to a packed crowd and we enjoyed the great tunes, good company, and delicious food picnic style on the lawn at Mondavi Winery. My brother took a group of us to this event, we dined on grilled chicken and vegetables straight from his Napa garden, and were fortunate to have the opportunity to spend some time with KD backstage after the concert.

Another highlight of our recent weeks was a dinner party hosted by dear friends, featuring a unique Chateau Montelena vertical. To start, we had two of the famous Chardonnays, accompanying delightful crabcakes served with a mango chutney really nice pairing. The star of the evening, though, was the 1987, 1997, and 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon served alongside a prime filet grilled to perfection. As my wife and I left the event and headed the 10 blocks up the hill to our home via Vespa, we thought how fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful city, with wonderful friends, and access to such a wealth of fantastic wines.

And now, onto the wine.
