WineRelease.com's July 15, 2011 Monthly Newsletter.

Greetings from WineRelease.com, now 1,776 winery listings strong! (how patriotic)

I attended the Rutherford Dust trade tasting in Napa this week and tasted through most of the 2008 Cabernet wines and a few 2007 and have to say "wow". Overall they were juicy with mellow tannins and great structure. I was impressed.

My wife, mom and brother went to New York for a quick vacation and to spend time with my niece Brynn who lives there. Brynn recommended we go to Terroir wine bar then to Hearth restaurant last Saturday (Hearth owns Terroir). We started out at Terroir where they were sharing a "Summer of Riesling" theme with Hearth and featured 165 Rieslings from all over the world. We started with chicken liver pate and white anchovies and a 2001 Gebling Sepp Moser, Kremstal and followed with a German Riesling then headed over to Hearth for dinner.

At Hearth, the great meal continued. We shared Philadelphia Burrata, beet salad, heirloom tomato salad, grilled sepia and grilled quail. We followed with Washugyu beef cheeks, Scottish salmon, veal and ricotta meatballs and a side of gnocchi. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. It was the best meal of our trip. I highly recommend a visit.

And now, onto the wine.
