WineRelease.com's November 15, 2010 Monthly Newsletter.
Greetings from WineRelease.com, now 1,668 winery listings strong!
December is one of the slimmest wine release months because the weather is cold and not shipping friendly.
Its been another great month for wine - both new releases and that which were tasting from our sponsors. Tonight was one of those rare warm San Francisco evenings and with my cousin, Lisa, in town from Minnesota, we had a nice bottle of Carabella Chardonnay (2007) to start our evening before walking a block (youve got to love this city) to a fabulous meal at Frascati in Russian Hill. Highly recommend the octopus salad if you make it into the city and this neighborhood.
Last week, 3 of my 4 nieces came by to check out our new place and we shared a bottle of the 2008 Rodney Strong Pinot Noir before heading out for sushi. Perfectly delicious with roasted cashews after that long subway ride into the city. And last night, while our neighbors (and their toddlers) came down to check out our progress as were living in a sea of boxes, we opened a bottle of the Hopper Creek Rose. Crisp, clean, delicious.
Two weeks ago, our dear friends, Lis and Antoine, came to visit from Spain - at the tail end of their honeymoon after Miami, Las Vegas, and Hawaii. We did a weekend in Napa (their first time) and visited Sinskey (our first stop - what a great way to start a beautiful weekend), Cliff Lede, Stags Leap Wine Cellars, and Darioush. All are Winerelease subscribers and we were met with a warm welcome at each winery. Antoine and Lis own a wine shop in Madrid and were amazed at the breadth and depth of the California wines we encountered.
After a weekend of fabulous wines, great food, beautiful scenery and outlet shopping, we hit Gott's Roadside (formerly known as Taylors Refresher) at Oxbow market for burgers and shakes. Perfect way to end a great visit with special friends.
I hope this past month of harvest has found you enjoying special wines with friends and family. Im already looking through my cellar to think about what well be drinking with our turkey over Thanksgiving and am looking forward to this holiday season, back in the US.
And now, on to the wine...
