Winery Description: Joseph Swan Vineyards, established in 1967 by Joe Swan, is a small, family-owned winery located in Sonoma County's Russian River Valley. Initially focusing on old-vine Zinfandel, the winery expanded under Swan's guidance to include Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with the first Pinot Noir vintage released in 1973. Swan was known for his dedication to traditional Burgundian winemaking techniques and his pursuit of low yields to enhance wine quality. After his passing in 1989, his daughter Lynn and her husband, winemaker Rod Berglund, continued the legacy, producing vineyard-designated Pinot Noir and old-vine Zinfandel, along with small lots of Rhône-style wines, Pinot Gris, and Chardonnay. The Trenton Estate Vineyard, part of the original property, includes some of the oldest Pinot Noir vines in the region, contributing to the distinctive character of their wines. Visitors can experience their artisanal wines through tastings available by appointment.
