WineRelease.com's February 15, 2012 Monthly Newsletter.

Greetings from WineRelease.com, now 1,836 winery listings strong.

Many of us are in the throes of one of the warmest winters in memory. Last night, as my wife and I enjoyed a delicious rose in conjunction with our prix fixe Valentines dinner at one of our favorite San Francisco restaurants, SPQR, I was tempted to look for a case of that rose to share with friends out on the back patio, in anticipation of continued summer nights in the city.

While its not been the best weather for our winter sports friends just to the Northeast of us in Lake Tahoe, I was able to host my bi-monthly Wine Guys (wine aficionados working in advertising) dinner outdoors, without the use of the heat lamp that we recently installed. We started with truffle nuts, bacon wrapped blue cheese filled dates, Spanish crostini, and marinated white anchovies with blue fin tuna, then had a tuna poke dish with wakame salad, and onto the main course of arroz negro with fried chicken. (Trust me, it worked). We finished with dark flourless chocolate cake with vanilla bean ice cream and a raspberry coulee. Take a warm San Francisco evening, a dozen or so of wine lovers with the wines to match, and some good food = recipe for a great evening.

Directly following the dinner, my wife, the baby and I were invited to a night in Carmel (along the central coast of California) by a good friend. It was a last minute trip, planned on literally 15 minutes notice, but a great opportunity for us to try out one of Carmels established top restaurants Anton & Michel. Highly recommended, along with Carmels Coffee Company for coffee and a pastry as you walk through the downtown on a drizzly Saturday morning.

I hope this winter has afforded all of you the opportunity to share some good food and wine with friends and family.

Last, but not least, click the Pinot Noir Summit ad below and it takes you to a page for $50 off the Feb 25 event for WineRelease subscribers ($80 instead of $130).

And now, onto the wine.
