WineRelease.com's February 15, 2003 Monthly Newsletter

Greetings from WineRelease.com, five days early... For good reason!

I will be travelling in France today through February 20, with my friends Joyce and Dave to Paris and Bordeaux, visiting Chateau Latour, Palmer, Margaux, Pichon Lalande, L'Angelus and a few others. What fun it will be.

Now that I am on the imported wine subject, many people ask about release dates for imports and although I would love to provide them, it is tough to get accurate dates due to the many middlemen involved in the import process. "On the boat" is the best guess sometimes, and that can be this month or three months from now. I feel if I can't provide accurate information, then I won't provide it at all.

Those types of questions, and others are answered on my recently updated frequently asked questions (FAQ)" page. If you want to read more about this site, such as how I get my information, privacy policy, etc... click here.

And now, on to the show....

Marston Family Vineyard
Marston Family Vineyard was first planted their vineyard in the early 1900s on Spring Mountain, just west of St. Helena. The Marston Family sells grapes to Beringer Vineyards and is one of the half dozen or so that receive a vineyard designation. Marston Vineyard's old vine Petite Sirah (replanted to Syrah about five years ago) achieved international recognition for winemaker Sean Thackrey when The Wine Enthusiast magazine named his 1992 Sirius its "1996 World Champion Red Wine," of the 4,500 wines tasted. 1998 marked their first vintage with their own label.

February's recommended web site to visit:

Wine Aroma Wheel
Ann Noble's Wine Aroma Wheel
The "Wheel" is a great tool to heighten your sensory evaluation and memory. When tasting and analyzing wine, referring to the aroma wheel helps jog your memory and further expand your wine vocabulary making your description of what you like, and don't like, easier to define.

Till next month!
